The UK government announced on Saturday evening that England is to re-enter a “full” lockdown, not dissimilar to the first one the country entered at the beginning of the year, following a rise in Covid-19 cases.
This is no doubt going to raise questions for yourself on what impact it has on your shipments, and although we are awaiting more information on exactly what wider effects this is going to have, we have a fair idea going in based on information we already have and experience with the lockdown we already faced back in March.
First and foremost, Banks & Lloyd will continue to operate exactly as we have been doing. We have implemented home working effectively and we shall be able to continue providing our service and expertise regardless of the lockdown in place.
It is also worth noting that anyone involved in transportation and logistics are considered key facilities, and as such will be able to continue functioning. This includes Hauliers transporting goods across the country, ports continuing to operate and so on and so forth.
Acceptance of deliveries for your cargo will still be allowed and is in fact of vital importance. If you have cargo in transit, be it with ourselves or anyone else, please continue to accept deliveries. If not for avoiding the extra demurrage costs you would incur onto your business, it’s important to make sure that containers are not clogging up the ports and that we do not contribute to issues that would have a wide spread impact on the movements of goods, essential or otherwise, throughout the country.
As we come understand any important developments and how they may impact you and your business, we will advise accordingly. Otherwise, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
